Frequently Asked Questions

How does Sound Warden route audio?

Sound Warden watches which apps you open or switch to, then automatically changes your Mac's system audio output to the device you configured. No per-app audio capture - just clean, reliable system-wide switching.

Why isn't my audio switching?

Make sure your target device is connected and saved in the Devices tab. Check that the automation is enabled (green toggle) and that "Automations on" is shown at the bottom of the sidebar. If the device is shown as disconnected, reconnect it and Sound Warden will retry automatically.

What happens when I switch between two apps that both have rules?

Sound Warden follows your focus. Whichever rule-app is in the foreground gets its device. Switch to the other app and the output follows. Switching to an app with no rule leaves audio unchanged.

What happens when my target device is not connected?

Sound Warden logs a warning and leaves your audio on the current device. When the device reconnects, it retries and switches automatically within a few seconds.

How do I restore my purchase on a new Mac?

Open Sound Warden, go to Settings, then tap "Restore Purchase". Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

Is there a subscription?

No. Sound Warden uses one-time purchases only. Plus ($4.99) and Pro ($9.99) are yours forever with no recurring charges.

Does Sound Warden record my audio or microphone?

No. Sound Warden only changes which output device your Mac uses. It does not record, capture, or transmit any audio. No microphone access is requested or used.
