1. Overview
Clean Quit ("the App") is a macOS menu bar utility developed and distributed by Sushanth Reddy ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.
We are committed to your privacy. Clean Quit is designed to operate entirely on-device without any network communication or data collection.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Clean Quit does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email, location)
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports or diagnostics sent to our servers
- The names or identifiers of apps you quit or whitelist
- Any data from your device sent over the internet
3. Information Stored Locally
Clean Quit stores the following data only on your device using macOS UserDefaults, inside the app's private sandbox container:
- Whitelist — the bundle identifiers of apps you choose to protect from being quit.
- Preferences — settings such as whether to show running apps in the menu and whether to launch at login.
- Keyboard shortcut — your configured global hotkey (key code and modifier flags).
- Onboarding state — a flag indicating whether you have completed the first-launch walkthrough.
This data never leaves your device and is never accessible to us or any third party.
4. macOS Automation Permission
To quit other applications, Clean Quit uses Apple's automation system. macOS may display a prompt the first time the App attempts to quit a specific application, asking you to grant permission. This is a standard macOS privacy control. Clean Quit does not store, log, or transmit the names of any apps involved in this process.
You can review and manage these permissions at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.
5. Third-Party Services
Clean Quit does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-sharing services. The App makes no network requests of any kind during normal operation.
6. Children's Privacy
Clean Quit does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Because the App collects no personal information at all, it is safe for users of any age.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
